File Name: nonalcoholic fatty liver disease pathology and pathogenesis .zip
The journal's aim is to publish articles focused on basic, clinic care and translational research that seeks to prevent rather than treat the complications of endstage liver disease. The Impact Factor measures the average number of citations received in a particular year by papers published in the journal during the two receding years.
Fatty liver disease FLD , also known as hepatic steatosis , is a condition where excess fat builds up in the liver. There are two types of fatty liver disease: non-alcoholic fatty liver disease NAFLD and alcoholic liver disease. It is recommended that people with fatty liver disease do not drink alcohol. Often there are no or few symptoms.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease NAFLD is the most common chronic liver disease in the world, and it comprises a spectrum of hepatic abnormalities from simple hepatic steatosis to steatohepatitis, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. While the pathogenesis of NAFLD remains incompletely understood, a multihit model has been proposed that accommodates causal factors from a variety of sources, including intestinal and adipose proinflammatory stimuli acting on the liver simultaneously. Prior cellular and molecular studies of patient and animal models have characterized several common pathogenic mechanisms of NAFLD, including proinflammation cytokines, lipotoxicity, oxidative stress, and endoplasmic reticulum stress. In recent years, gut microbiota has gained much attention, and dysbiosis is recognized as a crucial factor in NAFLD. Although a high-fat diet and inactive lifestyles are typical risk factors for NAFLD, the interplay between diet, gut microbiota, and genetic background is believed to be more important in the development and progression of NAFLD.
Its pages are open to the members of the Association, as well as to all members of the medical community interested in using this forum to publish their articles in accordance with the journal editorial policies. The principal aim of the journal is to publish original work in the broad field of Gastroenterology, as well as to provide information on the specialty and related areas that is up-to-date and relevant. The scientific works include the areas of Clinical, Endoscopic, Surgical, and Pediatric Gastroenterology, along with related disciplines. The journal accepts original articles, scientific letters, review articles, clinical guidelines, consensuses, editorials, letters to the Editors, brief communications, and clinical images in Gastroenterology in Spanish and English for their publication. CiteScore measures average citations received per document published. Read more. SRJ is a prestige metric based on the idea that not all citations are the same.
Metrics details. NAFLD has emerged to be extremely prevalent, and predicted by obesity and male gender. It includes a spectrum of disease ranging from intrahepatic fat accumulation steatosis to various degrees of necrotic inflammation and fibrosis non-alcoholic steatohepatatis [NASH]. NAFLD is associated, in children as in adults, with severe metabolic impairments, determining an increased risk of developing the metabolic syndrome. It can evolve to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, with the consequent need for liver transplantation.

Metrics details. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease has emerged a major challenge because of it prevalence, difficulties in diagnosis, complex pathogenesis, and lack of approved therapies. As the burden of hepatitis C abates over the next decade, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease will become the major form of chronic liver disease in adults and children and could become the leading indication for liver transplantation. This overview briefly summarizes the most recent data on the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Ongoing clinical trials are focused on an array of disease mechanisms and reviewed here are how these treatments fit into the current paradigm of substrate overload lipotoxic liver injury.
The burden of liver-related morbidity remains high among HIV-infected patients, despite advances in the treatment of HIV and viral hepatitis.
